Rebuild a community school

“The smiles on their faces were worth every second of effort”

Venture on the most rewarding experience helping out, and living in, the local community in the small town of Moshi located in Tanzania. Our local U. Team will meet you at the airport and take you to your hostel in the city. There is no pressure on you today – there is plenty of time to catch up on sleep or update on any social media you missed in your 8 hour flight (god forbid). The local U.Team will be around to answer any questions and even share a beer with you.

Over the next 12 days, you will work with our local U.Team to repair and rebuild one of the local community schools. It is hard work but so massively rewarding seeing the smiles on the faces of the children and teachers. You can expect varied work from fixing chairs and tables, painting classrooms, hanging blackboards and, for those willing, installing toilets. The headmaster, teacher and other locals will always be around for help – it is a real community effort. While we are absolutely against any company or project where children are provided for entertainment we are not against those serendipitous moments where a game of football or basketball, a shared song or dance, or just those moments of endless smiles occur and create life-lasting memories.

Live like a local – exploring Moshi

Your evenings are jam-packed with a welcome dinner on the second day, Swahili lessons, a bar crawl with other travellers, a cooking class, free time to explore the town of Moshi and a farewell dinner just for good measure. It is easy to forget you are working during the day when the evenings are so fun!

And because you have been such an incredible contributor to this community project which is so dear to our heart we have also included a special one-day trip to the Materuni Waterfall and Coffee tour. Take a day off from work and explore the incredible scenery we talk so much about in Tanzania.

Talk to the U. Team about extending your stay and climbing the world’s largest free-standing mountain – Mt. Kilimanjaro or go on a real safari to see the big 5 plus so many more incredible animals, before resting on the white sand beaches of Zanzibar.
